We are seeking a talented Delivery Manager (People & Skills) to join our team.
West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) along with local authority partners have established a new business support service called Business Growth West Midlands (BGWM). The service is designed to support businesses by providing advisory support to enable future business growth. As part of the advisory service, we recognise the value of skills support, enabling businesses to improve productivity and grow.
As a Delivery Manager, you will be instrumental in establishing the WMCA skills offer within the BGWM product portfolio. You'll use your expertise to connect skills providers with local authority business engagement teams, ensuring access to essential skills development opportunities for businesses across the West Midlands.
This role is being offered as a fixed term contract until 31st March 2025.
What will you be doing?
- Champion the integration of the People & Skills offer within BGWM, driving business engagement with the WMCA skills portfolio.
- Become the central point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration and knowledge transfer between WMCA teams and BGWM.
- Foster strong relationships with local authority business engagement teams and over 70 skills providers within the region.
- Develop streamlined processes to enhance business engagement and improve the customer experience.
- Act as the key interface between local authority teams and skills providers, ensuring accessible skills support at the regional, sub-regional, and local levels.
- Leverage your subject matter expertise to guide business engagement teams in utilising the People & Skills offer, maximizing its impact on business growth.
- Identify service gaps and collaborate with relevant teams to develop effective solutions.
- Partner with the BGWM communications team to create compelling content for social media and events.
- Proactively promote training solutions through events and career fairs.

- Experienced in employment and skills programme delivery with a strong understanding of the system.
- Deep knowledge of regional skills programmes and initiatives.
- Understanding of the West Midlands economic and political landscape.

We advertise salary ranges for job roles, with new appointments typically starting at the lowest salary point. In exceptional cases, where higher skill levels or experience are applicable, the salary point may be adjusted to secure the best candidate. Location and working pattern – what you can expect.
The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane. It is expected that you can split your time between the office and working remotely, with at least 2 days a week spent in the office.
