This is an exciting time for the region, as the election of a new Mayor promises positive change for the West Midlands. We have a brand-new role for a Digital Communication Executive to partner with the Mayor, capturing and shaping how he tells his story and the change he is bringing to the region. You will be instrumental in raising the Mayor’s and the West Midlands Combined Authority’s (WMCA) profile, leading on the Mayor’s social media channels and raising awareness on the main priorities for the community.
This varied role offers a unique opportunity to showcase how the Mayor’s work impacts the region by delivering consistent, high-quality content that establishes the WMCA as a recognised and trusted brand. Collaborating with local businesses, residents and community groups, you will create bespoke digital content, utilising your photography and video editing skills to convey what we are trying to achieve.

Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to occasionally work evenings and weekends.
What you will be doing.
- Produce and distribute a wide range of engaging digital content including video, photography, articles, social media posts, infographics etc.
- Ensure content is re-purposed and adapted effectively to the style and audience of each digital channel.
- Support with the development and implementation of digital communication strategies for the Mayor.
- Work closely with the Media and PR teams to ensure that stories are communicated through relevant digital channels.
- Provide digital advice and creative ideas to the organisation.
- Regularly review the performance of our digital content and channels by interpreting and reporting on statistics.
- Ensure compliance with GDPR in the management of customer data and accessibility legislation.
- Support the development and maintenance of the email customer database and implement a programme of regular communications.
What’s essential.
- Experience of planning, producing and editing multimedia content and repurposing for different audiences and channels.
- A proven track record of planning and executing social media campaigns and content plans.
- Experience of updating websites, blogs and social media channels.
- Evidence of a diplomatic and confident approach to handling internal stakeholders through negotiation, conflict resolution and presentation capabilities.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Good communications skills.
- Strong attention to detail and proof-reading skills.
- Able to analyse and evaluate information.
- Able to apply technical expertise.

We advertise salary ranges for job roles, with new appointments typically starting at the lowest salary point. In exceptional cases, where higher skill levels or experience are applicable, the salary point may be adjusted to secure the best candidate. location.
The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane, though regular site visits will be required. It is expected that you be in the office 5 days a week, due to the nature of the role.
