Business Growth West Midlands (BGWM) is a government funded initiative, enabling regional businesses to grow and succeed. The service provides free tailored, one to one support, guidance, and signposting to assist SMEs across all industries to grow and succeed, making our region a prosperous place to live and work. The BGWM team is seeking an innovative Marketing and Outreach Officer to join their newly established team of 6 until March 2025, to support colleagues to deliver effective, outcome-focused campaigns and marketing initiatives to attract the regions SME community to access this free business support service.

Whether you're crafting compelling blogs, managing the website, producing insightful case studies, creating engaging videos or formulating newsletters, your efforts will serve to champion BGWM's mission and enlighten businesses about the wealth of support at their disposal for fostering growth and success.

We're in search of someone with a genuine passion for making a difference, fuelled by enthusiasm, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to bolstering the BGWM team's efforts.

Please be aware that this role is part-time until March 2025. You will be expected to work three days a week, specifically on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

What will you be doing?

  • Support the generation of a pipeline of prospective target clients for the range of services offered through the business growth and support hub.
  • Manage social media channels (including paid campaigns)
  • Prioritise internal and external partner requests for social media messaging based on the wider needs of the West Midlands business growth and support hub.
  • Work with colleagues across the communications team, wider organisation and external partners to develop and deliver multi-channel marketing initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the success of marketing plans and campaigns.
  • Design and produce marketing collateral, including emails, printed materials and regular newsletters.
  • Produce written and video case studies.
  • Provide regular updates on marketing activities, looking for trends and opportunities, and ensure reporting is useful and relevant to the wider team and partners.

About you.

  • Degree in marketing/communications or experience in a marketing role developing and delivering marketing campaigns.
  • Experience of using a range of marketing tools and techniques to deliver successful marketing campaigns.
  • Experience of working with internal and external partners and stakeholders, including creative agencies
  • Able to work at pace, taking a positive approach to new challenges.
  • Experience of using research and insight to monitor and evaluate the outcomes of marketing programmes and campaigns.
  • A strong collaborator, comfortable liaising with internal and external partners
  • Strong research, copywriting and storytelling skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly listening skills, tact, diplomacy and assertiveness
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and deliver a demanding workload.
  • Able to deliver strategic marketing plans and manage projects to tight deadlines.
  • A flexible approach and the ability to work effectively in a range of situations and with a diverse range of people.
  • Enthusiasm and a high degree of initiative and motivation

Salary and benefits.

We advertise salary ranges for job roles, with new appointments typically starting at the lowest salary point. In exceptional cases, where higher skill levels or experience are applicable, the salary point may be adjusted to secure the best candidate. Location and working pattern – what you can expect. 

The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane. It is expected that you can split your time between the office and working remotely, with at least 2 days a week spent in the office.
