Passenger Incentive Programme - Engagement Officer

Our Passenger Incentive Programme is an important part of our ambitious Bus Service Improvement Plan. This new incentive will allow us to give 750,000 people, across the region, free bus tickets and then discounted travel on the bus network for 2 years. This programme will encourage long term travel behaviour change and improve opportunities for residents who may have previously been excluded from public transport access in the West Midlands.

The Passenger Incentive Programme Engagement Officer is a brand-new role that has been put in place to support the delivery of this inspiring programme, which is instrumental in promoting the region to use our bus network. You will play a crucial role in removing barriers by liaising with various organisations, both public and voluntary, who will identify eligible individuals for the programme and you will support them in gaining access to these tickets, using new and bespoke technologies. 

We need a people person who is confident, enthusiastic, approachable and empathetic. Ideally you will have a strong customer service and stakeholder management background.

This is a fixed term contract until August 2025.

What you will be doing. 
  • Represent the West Midlands Combined Authority at stakeholder briefings, providing advice and direction to peers at local authorities
  • Support organisations and key stakeholders with the newly developed technological solution, surveys, and forms
  • Provide and present educational materials to assist residents in using digital platforms
  • Provide accurate and up to date monthly progress reports to the Fares and Payments Senior Manager, Department of transport and local bus operators
  • Co-ordinate a programme of activities and events which increase the engagement of organisations working with the Passenger Incentive Programme cohorts
  • Promote the key messages of the Passenger Incentive Programme to organisations working within the community to current and potential users of the services
  • Provide, workshops and events which engage and empower organisations and customers to use public transport

Salary and benefits.
We advertise salary ranges for job roles, with new appointments typically starting at the lowest salary point. In exceptional cases, where higher skill levels or experience are applicable, the salary point may be adjusted to secure the best candidate. This approach allows for potential year-on-year salary increases, offering progression and appropriate rewards to employees. Hybrid working and location. 
We believe hybrid working is the best way for our organisation to fulfil our commitment to a modern, agile workplace while continuing to provide a great service to our customers. Hybrid working means having flexibility between working in the office and at home on agreed days, where a role allows. 

The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane. It is expected that you can split your time between the office and working remotely, with at least 2 days a week spent in the office. Please note, this is the minimum expectation.
