Programme Centre of Excellence Specialist

This is a role that favours change and innovation, especially with the new single settlement agreement coming in to play and introducing new processes and ways of working. This is a role that would be well suited to a proactive candidate that has the drive to get things done. 

The dynamic nature of this role means you’ll be involved from the initial stages of our programmes/projects, bringing to life our Single Assurance Framework. You’ll be responsible for the smooth running of the Centre of Excellence whilst also collaborating with senior stakeholders across a multitude of directorates.

What will you be doing?

  • Review business cases from various directorates and advise on the risks associate to decision makers. 
  • Develop strong and collaborative working relationships with WMCA Directorates and stakeholders to deliver agreed outcomes and goals. 
  • Lead the work to identify and document the programme stakeholders, their interests and the potential impact on the programme.
  • Provide a focal point to promote the use and benefits of the WMCA Single Assurance Framework (SAF).
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement and communication, ensuring effective timing and interdependency management of communications.
  • Provide advice and assistance to the Programme Assurance and Appraisal team and Stakeholders.
  • Provide a fast-track programme/project support service through collaborative working facilitated workshops and tailoring of standard approaches and templates. 
  • Develop processes to fulfil the internal reporting needs of the Programme Assurance and Appraisal team and ensuring that reporting deadlines are achieved. 
  • Develop and manage document control procedures to cover baseline management, controlled issue of master documents, version control, document history and distribution lists.

About you.

  • A degree/relevant qualification or experience within a project delivery or change environment
  • Experienced in the development of standards and implementation of best practice (e.g. process documents, flow diagrams and document management)
  • Proven stakeholder management skills 
  • Strong analytical skills 
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment

Salary and benefits.

We advertise salary ranges for job roles, with new appointments typically starting at the lowest salary point. In exceptional cases, where higher skill levels or experience are applicable, the salary point may be adjusted to secure the best candidate. This approach allows for potential year-on-year salary increases, offering progression and appropriate rewards to employees.

Location and working pattern – what you can expect. 

The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane. It is expected that you can split your time between the office and working remotely, with at least 2 days a week spent in the office.
