The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is at the forefront of environmental progress, leading the pioneering Local Net Zero Accelerator (LNZA) initiative, which will pave the way for investing at scale in net zero initiatives across the region. Funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, LNZA is one of only three such pilot programmes in the UK.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to this ambitious and innovative programme. As a Project Manager, you'll lead the development and delivery of projects within the Energy Capital team. You'll play a key role in driving the region towards a net-zero future, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Please note this role is being advertised as a 2-year fixed term (FTC) contract.
What will you be doing?
- Lead the development and effective implementation of agreed projects, particularly within LNZA.
- Design, develop, and maintain robust project processes to keep everything on track and achieve project goals.
- Proactively manage risks, collaborating closely with WMCA's Assurance and Finance teams.
- Oversee project budgets, tracking costs and ensuring financial responsibility.
- Champion best practices in project management, adhering to all relevant policies.
- Build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners, exceeding expectations.
- Manage external contractors, guaranteeing deliverables are met on time and within budget.
- Act as an external advocate and representative of Energy Capital and the WMCA at meetings with stakeholders.
- Manage project communications and marketing, writing content for webpages and events.
About you.
- Has a proven track record of managing and coordinating projects and programmes.
- Thrive in collaborative environments, working adeptly with diverse stakeholders.
- Possess a keen eye for detail with strong analytical and organisational skills.
- Hold a project management qualification or is committed to obtaining one. We can support you to achieve this qualification if necessary.
- Ideally have project management experience in energy, environment, data management, finance, local authority governance, or innovation.
Salary and benefits.
We advertise salary ranges for job roles, with new appointments typically starting at the lowest salary point. In exceptional cases, where higher skill levels or experience are applicable, the salary point may be adjusted to secure the best candidate. Location and working pattern – what you can expect.
The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane. It is expected that you can split your time between the office and working remotely, with at least 2 days a week spent in the office.
