Project Manager - Net Zero Neighbourhood

We are looking for a Net Zero Neighbourhood Project Manager to join our Energy Capital team. This is your opportunity to lead pioneering projects that will make a real difference to how people live, work and use energy in their communities. 

You’ll play a key role in delivering the Local Net Zero Accelerator, helping to design and implement Net Zero Neighbourhood demonstrators – practical, place-based projects that bring low-carbon living to life across the West Midlands. 

From early development through to delivery, you’ll oversee every stage of the project, working closely with local authorities, partners, and communities to turn ambitious plans into reality. 

This role is being offered as a fixed-term contract until 31st March 2028 

What you’ll be doing.

  • Delivering Net Zero Neighbourhood demonstrator workstream within the Local Net Zero Accelerator programme.
  • Managing progress across multiple neighbourhood projects and supporting local delivery teams, ensuring they’re delivered on time, on budget, and with measurable impact.
  • Developing and maintaining strong project systems, risk registers and reporting processes.
  • Building positive relationships with local authorities, housing partners, contractors, and community stakeholders.
  • Overseeing budgets and financial forecasting, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Acting as an ambassador for Energy Capital and the WMCA promoting innovation, collaboration and best practice across the region.

What’s essential. 

You’ll bring experience in project management within energy, sustainability or net zero initiatives, and be comfortable working with a wide range of partners. You’re organised, analytical and calm under pressure – someone who can turn complex ideas into clear actions. 

You’ll also have: 

  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills, especially with local authorities and communities.
  • An understanding of project management, assurance, finance and risk processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A commitment to sustainability and a genuine interest in place-based energy transformation.
  • A relevant qualification in project management, or the willingness to work towards one.

Location. 

The location for this role is Sunmmer Lame with at least 2 days a week spent in the office.

We advertise salary ranges, with new appointments typically starting at the lowest salary point. In exceptional cases, the salary point may be adjusted to secure the best candidate. This approach allows for potential year-on-year salary increases, offering progression and appropriate rewards to employees.
