Senior Accounting Technician

With Single Settlement changing the way we work and introducing new processes, we are now seeing a Senior Accounting Technician to join our team as we explore this new terrain. 

This is a great opportunity for someone to come in and put their own stamp on this role. 

Please note, this is a 2 year fixed-term-contract. 

What you will be doing. 
  • Support Finance Business Partners in providing financial advice to Directors and Budget Holders.
  • Provide high quality financial administration services within the Accounting Pool.
  • Ensure that financial transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Provide efficient month-end accounting activities in line with strict deadlines and WMCA Financial Regulations.
  • Provide efficient and effective quarterly forecasting support.
  • Contribute to the development of robust annual budget proposals and associated commentary.
  • Represent the finance team at meetings with stakeholders and provide clear financial guidance.
  • Work with external auditors to support the annual audit process.
What’s essential.
  • AAT qualified/ member 
  • Experienced in the management of financial resources 
  • Proven experience in providing financial advice and support to budget holders 
  • Excellent communication skills, supporting multi-disciplinary teams at all levels within a business 
  • Strong stakeholder management skills 
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial management issues

Hybrid working and location. 
We believe hybrid working is the best way for our organisation to fulfil our commitment to a modern, agile workplace while continuing to provide a great service to our customers. Hybrid working means having flexibility between working in the office and at home on agreed days, where a role allows. 

The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane, Birmingham, B19 3SD. It is expected that you can split your time between the office and working remotely, with at least 2 days a week spent in the office. Please note, this is the minimum expectation.
