In this role, you'll play a key role in supporting WMCA's strategy and development across the region. You'll work closely with various teams across the entirety of our deeper devolution deal single settlement, including research, policy, public affairs, and strategy leads.

This is a unique opportunity to directly contribute to deeper devolution in the West Midlands bringing power and responsibilities back to the people and communities and building inclusive growth in the West Midlands.

Please note this role is being advertised as a twelve-month fixed- term contract.

What you will be doing. 
  • Use your analytical expertise to extract valuable insights from complex datasets, informing critical policy decisions by regional leaders. 
  • Bridge the gap between research and implementation by translating research into actionable policy and strategies. 
  • Work in a collaborative environment, partnering with diverse partners including academic institutions, government agencies, and research institutes. 
  • Develop and implement innovative methods for data management, integration, and analysis, ensuring data quality and promoting a data-driven culture within the WMCA. 
  • Lead and champion research across the WMCA to ensure research needs are met. 
  • Deputise for Strategic Leads across Research, Intelligence and Inclusive Growth in the regional and national research, intelligence, analysis, and data and inclusive growth communities where appropriate.
What’s essential.
  • Experienced data analyst with a proven experience in both quantitative and qualitative analysis. 
  • Strong communicator capable of creating clear, concise, and impactful reports for senior stakeholders. 
  • Collaborative professional with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams. 
  • Strong technical proficiency in data analysis, modelling, and data management tools. 
  • Understanding of data quality assurance, validation, and linkage 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage a wide range of audiences. 
  • Understanding of the legal and ethical compliance needs of research projects and know when to seek further support on legal or ethical issues.

Salary and benefits.
We advertise salary ranges for job roles, with new appointments typically starting at the lowest salary point. In exceptional cases, where higher skill levels or experience are applicable, the salary point may be adjusted to secure the best candidate. This approach allows for potential year-on-year salary increases, offering progression and appropriate rewards to employees. Requests for salaries above the maximum advertised range will not be considered.

Hybrid working and location. 
We believe hybrid working is the best way for our organisation to fulfil our commitment to a modern, agile workplace while continuing to provide a great service to our customers. Hybrid working means having flexibility between working in the office and at home on agreed days, where a role allows. 

The location for this role is Summer Lane, Birmingham. It is expected that you can split your time between the office and working remotely, with at least 2 days a week spent in the office. Please note, this is the minimum expectation.
