The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) seeks a highly motivated and experienced Senior Delivery Manager to join our Health and Communities team. This senior position, based within the Employment, Skills, Health & Communities Directorate, plays a crucial role in driving our mission: making the West Midlands a healthier place to live.
You will be a key senior member of the Health and Communities team, reporting into the Head of Health & Communities and working closely with other senior delivery managers in the team, together supporting the team and the directorate make a meaningful impact in improving the health of the region.
This role is being offered as a fixed term contract until March 2025 (maternity cover).
What will you be doing?
- Lead strategic development and delivery of our Thrive into Work and Thrive at Work programmes, supporting individuals in entering and thriving within employment.
- Champion a "health in all policies" approach across our economic growth and skills initiatives, ensuring health is considered in all WMCA endeavors.
- Forge partnerships with key stakeholders, including WM5G (digital health, health technology, and Smart City Region) and national DWP colleagues.
- Manage a team of three and secure additional resources as needed.
- Contribute to thought leadership on health inequalities, employment, and economic growth, influencing policy and practice.
- Provide clear and concise reports to the Wellbeing Board, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Contribute creatively to drive forward the WMCA's health agenda, delivering impactful results.
About you.
- Strong experience in health and addressing health inequalities, especially through employment and/or economy, or related policy areas.
- Proven ability to research complex issues and translate insights into actionable strategies.
- Experience working within local or regional government and understanding its unique dynamics.
- Skilled writer and communicator, adept at crafting reports and briefings for a policy audience.
- Strong track record of leading and delivering health-related programmes and policy initiatives.
- Deep understanding of healthcare, public health, employment, and economic growth challenges and their interconnectedness

We advertise salary ranges for job roles, with new appointments typically starting at the lowest salary point. In exceptional cases, where higher skill levels or experience are applicable, the salary point may be adjusted to secure the best candidate. Location and working pattern – what you can expect.
The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane. It is expected that you can split your time between the office and working remotely, with at least 2 days a week spent in the office.
