We have a brand-new role for a Strategic Partnerships Manager where you will play a pivotal role in cultivating and sustaining strategic alliances for both Transport for West Midlands and the wider West Midlands Combined Authority. Your key responsibilities will include proactively identifying potential partners, skillfully negotiating partnership agreements, and adeptly managing relationships to leverage opportunities that align with our organisational objectives.
Being part of a small team you will foster long term relationships with organisations, associated with government funded initiatives, and lead negotiation processes to establish mutually beneficial partnership agreements with regional and national partners, such as HS2 Ltd and the Department for Transport. This is a great opportunity to lead and shape strategic partnerships that drive growth and contribute to the success of our organisation and the region.
We need someone who has strong political acumen, can successfully nurture and maintain strategic relationships and is able to think creatively and use their own initiative.
What you will be doing.
- Initiate contact and build relationships with potential partners to explore collaboration possibilities
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify new partnership opportunities
- Develop and deliver a Stakeholder Engagement Strategy
- Develop & maintain a detailed CRM database
- Define partnership arrangements, where appropriate contractual obligations, and performance metrics
- Ensure internal senior and strategic personnel are kept abreast of project developments and potential opportunities or challenges
- Analyse partnership performance data and provide regular reports to internal stakeholders
- Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to optimise partnership outcomes
- Represent the West Midlands Combined Authority and Transport for West Midlands at stakeholder briefings
About you.
- Proven experience in strategic partnership management or business development roles
- Experience of having worked in a political environment with direct engagement with the public and private sector partners
- Strong negotiation, influencing, and relationship-building skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions

We advertise salary ranges for job roles, with new appointments typically starting at the lowest salary point. In exceptional cases, where higher skill levels or experience are applicable, the salary point may be adjusted to secure the best candidate. Location and Working Pattern - what you can expect.
The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane. It is expected that you are able to split your time between the office and working remotely, with at least 1 day spent in the office a week.
